Golden Year… Burnaby Artists Guild…50th Anniversary Exhibition

I will be showing 2 paintings at the upcoming anniversary exhibition at the Deer Lake Art Gallery 1-29 February 2020.

One painting is called “Life” and is a watercolour I did at life drawing last fall:

The other is an oil painting called “Summer Concert” done from a composite of several sketches made at Nicola Lake BC.:

Summer Concert

The instruments are, left to right; rebec, hurdy-gurdy, bombard – all ancient instruments from the Middle Ages.

Painting – 2017

13 Dec 2017

Since retiring from the practice of architecture and teaching environmental design, I have redirected my website to here. I have been a member of the Burnaby Artists Guild since 2015.

I have participated in two shows and have 3 paintings in progress.

Just finished a portrait of Gandhi:

My latest watercolour:

I will be showed these at the Spring Show  (apologies for the poor quality images – they will be updated as soon as possible):

Acrylics Painting

Acrylic paintings

My first opaque paintings were acrylic – like these:

Bob & Lilly at Anton’s Restaurant – 16×20 inches acrylic on canvas
-sold
Autumn in the southern interior – 16×20 inches acrylic on canvas
-sold

Now I am mainly using acrylics for under painting of oil paintings. An example of an acrylic under painting is:

under painting Nana Rose – 16×20 inches acrylic on canvas

Watercolours

My first efforts at painting were all watercolours – this occurred during my university days under the tutelage of Gentile Tondino at McGill’s School of Architecture.

Sketch at Nicola Lake

Since retirement in 2016 I have begun working with acrylics and, more recently, water miscible oil paint.
