High performance project design and construction begins at the programming phase. At the time when the project has been conceived, green goals, LEED objectives and whole building commissioning should be included in preliminary programming.
Detailed space requirements, proximity relationships, operational procedures and many considerations inform the design concept. Rider Consulting Services has extensive experience in project programming, from the scale of office renovations to complex laboratory facilities. We have developed programs for federal projects including Governor General Award winning Pacific Forestry Centre and Department of National Defence research laboratories.
Development of program requirements is an opportunity to articulate performance success indicators, performance metrics and green goals. This early stage of a project is a great time to facilitate integrated design charrettes.
For optimum results it is important to involve most of the design team consultants in these early charrettes, as well as the key members of the client team and including operations and maintenance managers.
